How should Christians vote? Are there Christian political parties?
It’s almost election day. Time to rush to the polls! (Or hopefully, you turned in your mail-in ballots). This is that time of year where we get to rouse up all that tension and piss off those select family members right before we are forced to sit and have a big turkey dinner together. Man, this year has flown by.
Every election cycle it becomes even more evident just how much our faith gets tied up in our politics. But why is that? And are we to understand other people’s political choices when we are so busy trying to defend our own?
This week we are talking about a Christian’s guide to political parties. We discuss how a Christian can be a part of any political party, how most people actually desire the same things, and how like love and hate, different political parties are more alike than they are different. It is one of the most difficult asks we could give, but we ask of you this: This election season, please try to refrain from needless debates that just weaken your own mental health. Try to see people for what they are, a piece of God’s glory with their own lenses they filter the world through. If you can see the human in them, then you can find the God in you.
