5 Easy Ways You Can Show Love Today

Whether it’s a simple smile and a wave to a stranger across the street to extending a warm hug to someone at Church, there are many ways to show love to someone today.

Our latest episode this week is all about showing Christ’s love by our actions and not just our words. So we decided to share a few easy ways you can show someone that love today.

It’s easy to tell someone you love them and that is powerful. People need to hear the message of hope and love. But sometimes our actions need to go beyond just words when we want to show people love. That’s why we are sharing a few simple ways you can show love today.

1. Smile More

I once read a quote about how it’s better to be the person that smiles to a stranger than be the person that doesn’t smile back. That quote still sticks with me today. And it is honestly such a true statement.

You never know how much a smile could change someone’s outlook. If someone feels unloved by the people around them, just a random smile could change their perspective. When you extend a smile to a stranger it may just be the thing that helps them get through a tough day.

2. Buy Someone A Coffee 

I know this may not sound very impactful but buying someone’s coffee can really go a long way. Sure, they may not need you to buy their coffee. But it often shows them that someone is thinking about them.

For all of the times someone has paid for my coffee in the drive-thru line at Starbucks, I always felt important. I felt like someone took time out of their day to want to bless a stranger, whoever that would be. It was nice to feel important enough that a stranger would pay a little extra for me.

3. Extend a Helping Hand

You can extend a helping hand in many different ways. Extending a helping hand can be anything from helping someone carry their groceries to helping someone start their car after their car battery died.

If you pay attention close enough, there will always be opportunities to help someone. Maybe you can’t buy someone a coffee but you may be able to help them pick up something off the top shelf at the grocery store. Extending a helping hand is a great way to show someone love by simply being present and aware of their needs.

4. Make a Phone Call

Now, this may seem like a no brainer but honestly, one of the best things you can do is pick up the phone and make a phone call. Call your parents and tell them you love them. Call your grandparents and make sure they’re okay. Maybe even call and old friend from College to remind them you still care about them.

Too often we get so busy that we forget to check up on other people. Making a simply phone call to a loved one is a sure way to make sure you show them love. Keeping up with your relationships is vitally important to sustain them. Sometimes that means taking time out of your day to pick up the phone.

5. Pay it Forward

One of the best ways I can think of to show love is by paying it forward. If someone buys your coffee, buy someone else’s coffee. If someone helped you jumpstart your car, help someone else with their car.

And it honestly doesn’t even have to be the exact way someone helped you either. When you pay it forward, you are telling people that you are thinking about them. It is so important to take time out of your day to help others if you can. Maybe you aren’t able to help buy someone’s groceries. Maybe the best thing you can do is simply smile and wave at a stranger. You never know the impact you may have on that person.
